Key ingredients and benefits
ACTIVATED COCONUT CHARCOAL
Activated coconut charcoal is a powerful natural detoxing ingredient as it has the ability to draw bacteria, poisons, chemicals, excess oils, dirt and other micro-particles along with detoxing the surface of the skin. Used regularly it helps reduce acne breakouts and reduces the inflammation, leaving you with a flawless complexion.
The triglycerides in coconut oil attract protein molecules, ensuring timely repair of the collagen layer. Coconut oil can prevent premature ageing as it’s gentle on the skin as a moisturiser and exfoliates without abrading the skin. When applied to the skin it can act as a physical barrier to dust and other environmental pollutants, while sealing in skin moisture. Its antioxidant action reduces oxidative damage and keeps the skin smooth and supple by promoting collagen formation. Coconut oil also has natural antibacterial properties that protect the skin from potential pathogens. It can reduce the risk of bacterial infections on the skin, which assists in combating acne. It is mainly the lauric acid in the coconut oil that acts as the antibacterial agent. This medium chain fatty acid constitutes 85% of the coconut oil.
Moisturising: The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in Shea butter makes it incredibly nourishing and moisturising for skin. It is often used to remedy dry skin and to help protect the skin’s natural oils.
Reduces inflammation: A 2010 study found that due to its cinnamic acid and other natural properties, shea butter was anti-inflammatory. One compound in particular, lupeol cinnamate, was found to reduce skin inflammation and even potentially help avoid skin mutations. This also makes it beneficial for some people with acne.
Skin Smoothing: Shea butter aids in the skin’s natural collagen production and contains oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids that protect and nourish the skin to prevent drying. With long-term use, many people report skin softening and strengthening as well as wrinkle reduction.
PATCHOULI ESSENTIAL OIL
Patchouli Essential Oil’s active components contribute to its therapeutic benefits of being a grounding, soothing, and peace-inducing oil. It’s known as the healing oil and can be attributed to the oil’s anti-inflammatory, antidepressant, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, astringent, fungicide and tonic qualities. It thus facilitates faster healing of wounds by stimulating the growth of new skin.
